The Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIK) is one of the most prestigious engineering institutes of Pakistan. GIK is known the world over for setting a standard of excellence in the field of engineering. It strives to attract faculty of outstanding talent and ability to provide the students a supporting and enabling environment. It hopes to produce graduates who distinguish themselves by their professional competence, humanistic outlook and ethical rectitude, pragmatic approach to problem-solving, and organizational and managerial skills. Given these attributes, they should be able to respond adequately to the needs of Pakistan and be the vanguard of their techno-industrial transformation.
The GIK Institute comprises six Engineering Faculties and a Department of Management Sciences. Each of these faculties is research oriented and undertakes a diverse field of study from investigation of human behavior to a range of complex engineering problems.

Over the years, the institute has produced bright, innovative graduates employed at some of the most respectable firms all over the world. To create an atmosphere for nurturing ideas into commercialized products, GIK University in partnership with the provincial government of KPK, has set up a state-of-the-art Incubator facility. The Incubator allows budding entrepreneurs access to the latest technology equipment, machinery and research know-how necessary to facilitate product design and commer‐ cialization. Top teams are selected from business plan competitions held regularly throughout the year. The institute has not only undergraduate but also graduate and post graduate degrees, widening the scope of studies and development for them.

Legacy

GIK has made its prominence and place in the top Engineering universities of Pakistan. It has over the years produced individuals which have contributed towards the society. They have some notable alumni like: Taimur Khan Jhagra, Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat, Faizan Buzdar and many others.

Basic Eligibility for BS Engineering Programs, Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science Programs Basic Eligibility Criteria: Candidates for admission must meet one of the following criteria:

• HSSC (Pre-Engineering i.e Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry) with 60% or above marks each in Mathematics, Physics & Overall.
• HSSC (Pre-Medical) with Additional Mathematics and 60% or above marks each in Mathematics, Physics & Overall.
• A-Level in three subjects Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with D or above grade each in Mathematics & Physics and O-Level in eight sub‐ jects (English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Computer Science, Urdu, Islamic Studies & Pakistan Studies) for local applicants and in five subjects (English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Computer Science) for those applying from abroad.
• American or Canadian High School Diploma or International Baccalaureate Diploma with Math‐ ematics (with Calculus), Physics and Chemistry with 60% or above marks, as per IBCC equivalence formula, each in Mathematics, Physics & Overall.
• Three years Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) in relevant technology from a Pakistani Board of Technical Education with at least 60% marks each in Mathematics, Physics & Overall.

Notes:

• Applicant with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry background can apply for all Programs including Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• Applicant with Computer Science/Computer Studies/IT background instead of Chemistry at their HSSC or A- Level can only apply for Computer Engineering , Artificial Intelligence or Computer Science.

Basic Eligibility for BS Management Sciences Program

• HSSC (Pre-Engg), HSSC (General Science), HSSC (ICS), HSSC (Pre-Medical), HSSC (Humanities) with at least 60% overall marks.
• A-Level in three subjects with Ds or above grades in two principal subjects and O-Level in eight subjects for local applicants and in five subjects for those applying from abroad with overall 60% or above equivalence as per IBCC formula.
• American or Canadian High School Diploma or In‐ ternational Baccalaureate Diploma with overall 60% or above marks, as per IBCC equivalence formula.
