Legacy

NUST has made its prominence and place in the top Engineering universities of Pakistan. It has over the years produced individuals which have contributed towards the society. They have some notable alumni like: Talat Masood, Abdullah Qureshi, Shahid Bashir and many others.

General criteria for all undergraduate programs at NUST:

  • Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in SSC and HSSC OR equivalent exams (as per IBCC equivalence).
  • Candidates of FA/FSc stream can apply for NET on the basis of FA/FSc Part-I but confirmation of admission is subject to provision of FA/FSc certificate or Detailed Marks Certificate.
  • All non FSc stream candidates must have equivalence certificate of their qualification, duly obtained from IBCC, Pakistan in relevant groups/ subjects and with minimum 60% marks.
  • Candidates of O/A Level or any other foreign equivalent qualification can apply on the basis of O Level (SSC) equivalence certificate obtained from Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) office but confirmation of their admission is subject to provision of A Level (HSSC) equivalence certificate duly obtained from IBCC, Pakistan.
  • Candidates of O/A level or any other foreign qualification are advised to contact IBCC, Pakistan for issuance of equivalence certificates as per university requirements with more than 60% marks in required subjects / group, well in time. Any deficiency of subjects or non-provision of IBCC equivalence certificate before start of classes will lead to cancellation of admission at any stage.
  • Merit for BS Applied Biosciences programme will be based on complete FSc / A Level or equivalent qualification (as per IBCC Equivalence Certificate) result.

Engineering:

    FSc Pre-Medical with additional Maths
Foreign system of studies
  • O level (SSC) equivalence of “Science group” and A level (HSSC) equivalence of “Pre-Engineering group” including Maths, Physics and Chemistry as mandatory subjects.

BS Computer Sciences:

Pakistani system of studies
  • FSc Pre-Engineering / Computer Science Group.
Foreign system of studies
  • O level (SSC) equivalence of “Science group” and A level (HSSC) equivalence of “Pre-Engineering group” OR “Computer Science group” including Maths, Physics, Chemistry/Computer Science/ Computer Studies as mandatory subjects.

BS Applied Biosciences:

Pakistani system of studies
  • FSc Pre-Medical Group.
Foreign system of studies
  • O level (SSC) equivalence of “Science group” and A level (HSSC) equivalence of “Pre-Medical group” or any other group with three subjects including Biology and Chemistry as mandatory subjects.

BBA, BS Economics, BS Mass Communication, BS Public Administration, BS Psychology:

Pakistani system of studies
  • HSSC with any combination
Foreign system of studies
  • Combination‘O / A’ Level (SSC and HSSC) or equivalent with any combination

BS Accounting and Finance:

Pakistani system of studies
  • HSSC with Maths or Accounting and Finance or Accountancy as one of the major subject.
Foreign system of studies
  • O level (SSC) equivalence and A level (HSSC) equivalence with Maths or Accounting and Finance or Accountancy as one of the mandatory subject.

BS Mathematics:

Pakistani system of studies
  • HSSC with Maths.
Foreign system of studies
  • O level (SSC) equivalence and A level (HSSC) equivalence with Maths as one of the mandatory subject.

BS Physics:

Pakistani system of studies
  • FSc Pre-Engineering Group or Computer Science Group.
Foreign system of studies
  • O level (SSC) equivalence and A Level (HSSC) equivalence with three subjects including Maths and Physics as mandatory subjects.

BS chemistry:

Pakistani system of studies
  • FSc Pre-Engineering Group or Pre-Medical Group.
Foreign system of studies
  • O level (SSC) equivalence and A Level (HSSC) equi‐ valence withChemistry as major subject along with Physics OR Mathematics.

Architecture and Industrial Design:

Pakistani system of studies
  • FSc Pre-Engineering Group or Computer Science Group.
Foreign system of studies
  • O level (SSC) equivalence with Maths & Physics as mandatory subjects and A level (HSSC) equivalence of “Pre-Engineering group” or any other group with three subjects including Maths and Physics as mandatory subjects.
Please note:
  • Candidates with FSc / equivalent qualification with the combination of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Studies / Computer Science can only apply for Software Engineering and Computer Engineering
  • DAE candidates can apply for admission in selected Engineering programmes on open merit.
